Provenance: Part of a larger painting cut in three pieces by Zahrtmann himself in 1888. The two others with the title "Root vegetables". Auction, Hotel Fønix, "Malerier og Studier af Kristian Zahrtmann", 1888 no. 37 with the title "Frugtbutik"(Fruit shop). Bought by titular Councillor of State C. A. C. Berg for 235 DKK. Merchant Th. Celinder (1905). Director C. A. Andersen (1942).
